The Mira Costa Choirs annual holiday toy drive is now underway!
We know you have many opportunities to make worthwhile donations this time of year, so please feel free to contribute to this toy drive only if it doesn't conflict with your other charitable commitments. However, if you're looking for a worthy cause to support, please consider making the holidays a little happier for a very young child by giving the gift of a toy through this drive.
The Mira Costa Choirs winter concert, This Shining Night, will be performed in the MCHS auditorium on Friday, December 14th, at 7:00 pm.
The concert will feature all four curricular choirs and both after school a capella groups.
$10 suggested ticket donation at the door. Students and seniors free.
We'll have a small boutique set up in the lobby where you can purchase individually wrapped flowers, ciders, collectible concert pins, and lantern ornaments. Don't forget to stop by before the concert or during intermission to pick up some fun things for your awesome student!
We also will have concession items (candy, sodas, water) for purchase in the lobby before the concert and during intermission.
In addition, there will be a box set up outside the auditorium to collect donations of new toys, books, and stuffed animals for children age 0-5 for our holiday toy drive.

On November 12th, Choral Union traveled out to The University of Redlands for the High School Women's Choir Festival. This year, they participated in the morning session with 12 other women’s choirs from across the region. Last to sing on the festival, they performed beautifully receiving rave reviews from the adjudicators. Comments included, “such a gorgeous sound,” and our favorite, “ I could listen to you all day!” Thanks to our wonderful singers from Choral Union. You represented us so well.
On November 2, 2018 Vocal Ensemble participated in the Biola University High School Choral Festival which invites Chamber Choirs from across SoCal. The festival was adjudicated by Dr. Richard Sparks, Chair of Conducting and Ensembles at University of North Texas. The last to perform of the eight chamber choirs, Vocal Ensemble sang “And the Glory of the Lord” from Messiah, “Con Amores La Mi Madre” by Bob Chilcott and “Stars” by Norwegian Composer Erik Esenvalds, which uses tuned water glasses. Here are some of the comments from Dr. Sparks wrote about Vocal Ensemble’s performance. “The sound you get is fantastic!” “Sopranos, your high notes are just wonderful.” “Beautiful choral sound, so gorgeous, and absolutely beautiful phrasing (gorgeously shaped by your conductor) I admire what you do so much! Great attention paid to every aspect of singing, technique, musicianship, and musicality/expression…” Congratulations to Vocal Ensemble and their fine performance.
